How many years of college on average does it take to get a nursing degree?

I was just wondering how long it would take to get a degree to become a RN (registered nurse) or a nurse that works in the ER because that is what I would like to become in the future!

well you will need at to achieve an RN degree to be a E.R. Nurse. Your can go to a four year college and in 5 years you will have an BSN(bachelor of science in nursing), You can go to a community college and spend 3 1/2 in their RN program, or go through a three year diploma program throught the hospital. I am going to go to my comnity college for the 3 1/2 year program and get my BSN if i need it. A BSN is more for managment postions but some hospitals require it but to almost all hospitals a BSN and an RN degree carry the same weight.
Then apply to work in the ER. Most places want you to have ACLS and/or PALS.( Advanced cardiac life support / Pediatric advanced life support.) Or get them within 6 months after getting the job.
4 full time. More if part time.
My daughter’s boyfriend is an ER nurse in Pennsylvania. He started out taking a 2 year associates degree and trained as an EMT as well at night school. Because he had EMT training, and completed the internship, he was put into the ER right away. He never worked any where else.
After a couple years there, he moved to a hospital associated with a university because the job came with free tuition. So now he will have his BSN next spring.
My daughter, in her senior year in economics also went to community college and got her EMT qualification.
Anyway he is looking at going to the same school next year as my daughter is going for a grad degree to get his graduate degree as well while he works.
Thus, my suggestion is to sign up for a 2 year program to start and at the same time get an EMT qualification so you will get ER duty.
I have another friend who also went to night school as an EMT and joined the Air Force and they gave him an associates in nursing as well. After his service in North Dakota, he became an ER medical technicial in downtown LA.
I spoke to the PA at the Kaiser clinic here in Orange County and he started as an EMT as well. Took a nursing degree then went to grad school for his PA.
Depends on whether you are going for a associates, bachelors, masters. Also are you going to do all your prerequisites first and then nursing school or both together.
To get your BSN, total college years: ~4-5 (sometimes longer depending on if you can get into a program right away)
4 year bacholours nursing program … thats it it’s not that complicating
