mna asked:

If you did, can you tell me how many you were able to take and how hard were the courses etc……Which field in nursing did you choose and why? What in your opinion would be the easiest to pass with the most money??

Well, for my 2 year program they did not offer any nursing courses online at all. You had to sit in the classroom for everything, and honestly, being completely new to nursing, I think it was beneficial to be on campus with the other nursing students, forming study groups for NCLEX and everything.

I took almost all of my general education courses online though.

When I finished my BSN, I took an online nursing program and LOVED it. Contrary to popular belief, online nursing programs are not independent study – you have structure and deadlines and certain assignments that are due each week. There weren’t a lot of tests, but there were a lot of papers to write and discussions you were required to post in every week. The instructors also put video lectures online that you have to watch every week. It was great to be able to sit down and watch my lecture after the kids were in bed, to submit my homework at 2am, etc. I worked it around my busy schedule.

It was a little harder for me with the clinical requirements. Since I lived about 200 miles from the school, my clinicals had to be arranged where I lived, and sometimes the school didn’t put in enough effort to help me arrange them, and I sort of felt on my own. But I managed to get it done, it just took some extra leg work.

In general, online programs are more expensive. But if it’s worth it to pay for the convenience like it was for me, then go for it.
