One is an Associate’s Degree (2 year) and the other is a Bachelor’s Degree (4 year). The Bachelor’s is higher education.

AA is associates, it’s only a two year degree.
BA is bachelors, it’s a four year degree.

AA is a 2 Year Degree.
BA is a 4 year Degree.

I guess either will do, but the BA is more respected and will lead to higher pay and further career advancement.

One takes 4 years to complete the other takes 2 years. Initially their is no difference because both are allowed to sit for the NCLEX-RN, but after a few years some hospitals prefer for their managers to have an BSN. Also, if you want to pursue a graduate degree like a nurse practitioner or CRNA, you obviously need your BSN.

In the nursing field- the difference would be $. There are different types of nurses, CNA’s do not administer meds, where as an RN does it all, they have different levels of training in a nursing program. a BA in nursing means that along with nursing school (through your college) you have acheived the units and classes to have a BA degree. Usually it entitles you to a bit more $- and it is a nice step if you plan to continue and become a nurse practitioner or something like that. Good luck.
